Sisdels Groove Talks to Edith's Wish.....by NikiJ and Queen P

My fellow Sisdels and I were excited to be interviewing Edith's Wish, an all female rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. They were one of the showcases at this year's Atlantis Music Conference and played the Hard Rock Cafe on August 7. It makes us really happy to hear about female artists going at it and making their way. We were even more pleased to find that they are sweet, motivated, and intelligent ass-kickers.

Edith's Wish is made up of Dede De'Ionne on vocals, Stephanie Wilson on guitar, Priscilla Allen adding keyboards, Cookie Dean the drummer, and bass by Pam Wilson. They have been together for a little over two years and are really opening some eyes to their intense talent. We were curious of how the name came about and Priscilla told us that it was an inside joke involving their drummer and a clothing store called "Wish". Even that has a feminine ring to it.....leave it to a girl group to name their band after their favorite clothing store. Thats one of the reasons this band is so cool. They are paving the way for more female artists to in their words "rock like hell" just as good or better than the guys do while remaining true to their femininity.

The musical interests of the group are very eclectic ranging from jazz to classic and including bands like Earth, Wind and Fire. They also list Janis Joplin and Pat Benetar as influences on the band. This is evident in their music which they say is composed collectively as a group.

Dede told us that Charleston is one of EW's favorite spots to play and where they have the greatest following. It would seem though that Priscilla has the craziest fan following...one Augusta fellow likes to play with her bare feet while she is performing.

Edith's Wish tours throughout the Southeast quite often so if you ever get the opportunity to catch them live by all means do it. Screw the Spice Girls....Edith's Wish is true GIRL POWER!!!
